Birth

Parents: Johannes Schmidt

Calculated Birth Date 5-10-1770 (date ascertained from Helfrich Record of his burial), most likely in the Albany Twsp, Berks Co area, bordering on the Lynn Township area. Birth date computed from obituary, which states 57y 6mos 13days.  Transcribed Helffrich record has a suspicious date.  (the month/day on his death is the same as his marriage - probably a transcription error.

Occupation - Grist Mill, Sawmill 1797-1808
"Grim's grist and sawmills are situated at New Smithville, on Silver Creek, on a tract of land surveyed Aug 12 1733, for John Gackenbach, Sr., who built a log grist-mill and sawmill on it, and sold it, July 21 1794, to John Gackenbach, Jr.  Several years later (1797) he sold it to Abraham Smith, who had it till 1808, when he sold it to Gedion Grim, grandfather of the present owners."  - History of the Counties of Lehigh and Carbon in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, page 475

Aged: 56-10-7. Married 1796 to Barbara Scheib, was married for 31 years 10 mos. and 7 days. Left 13 children. Died from apoplexy. 

Johannes Schmidt, his father, is mentioned.
